Google Adwords is the way in which website owners can advertise their site on Google. You specify a budget, configure the settings for your adverts and start your campaign. Your adverts appear on Google like this:

Every time someone clicks on your advert, you pay a fee to Google (which comes out of the budget that you set initially). Your adverts will continue to show whilst you still have a budget or until you choose to stop them.
