Introduction to WordPress

We’re going to be looking at WordPress. It’s a great platform to get you started, and you can quickly set up a smart website to promote your business.

You can download WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ (you won’t need to do this during the workshop, because we’ve already installed it for you)

Finding a theme you like

WordPress is built on “themes”. A theme contains all the information about how your website will look, it’s design and layout. To search for some free themes, login to your WordPress site and go to Appearance > Themes > Add New.

How to use WordPress

The key areas of WordPress you’ll need to get familiar with are “Pages”, “Posts” and customising your chosen theme. We’ll go over some of these in the Workshop, but for future reference – take a look around our help site or visit the help section of WordPress.org.
