All you need to know about buying a domain name

What is a domain name?

A domain name is the web address where your website will appear. For example facebook.com or webwisemedia.co.uk.

What names are available?

There are millions of potential domain names out there and you should try and obtain those that are most relevant to your brand. You can own more than one domain name, so if you can afford it – buy them all to protect your brand. For example, we own: webwisemedia.co.uk, webwise.marketing, webwise.media, webwise.london etc.

You can use 123 Reg’s site to check to see what domain names are available.

Where to begin?

When starting out though, you just need one. Try and get a .com if you can, which is a “Generic Top Level Domain” and is often seen as being more respected than a country specific domain name like a .co.uk.

Our preferred supplier for domain names is 123 Reg. By buying a domain name with them, we are able to offer a faster and efficient set-up because we are familiar with their control panel.

  1. Check 123-reg to find a domain name
